DHM has worked with OAHHS over the course of several years to conduct a series of qualitative and quantitative research studies with Oregon voters. These studies track perceptions of hospitals and assess perceptions of the benefits hospitals provide to the community. We have investigated voter support for new taxes to fund the state’s Medicaid program, the Oregon Health Plan, as well as policies designed to improve healthcare cost transparency and stability for Oregonians of all income levels. Examples of the policies considered by this research are new tax vehicles to fund services in Oregon and caps on the amount insurance companies may change for healthcare services. The research findings guide board strategies, member relations, and communications efforts.
